Helping you find true relief and healing from anxiety and trauma

Tried traditional talk therapy but still not experiencing the relief you are looking for? Brainspotting can help!

What is Brainspotting and how is it different?

Brainspotting is a mind-body approach that allows us to access the deeper parts of your brain where trauma and painful life experiences are stored so that you can process, integrate, and heal. We do this by locating a brainspot (which is a point in your visual field that is most connected to your somatic/physical response to a stressor) and mindfully processing whatever comes up for you. We may also utilize bilateral sound to deepen your processing. Many people report feeling a sense of relief, clarity, and deeper sense of connection to themselves. In traditional talk therapy you may be able to identify why you feel a certain way in a given situation and learn tools to cope. Unfortunately for many folks, they realize that when back in a triggering situation, they are unable to think clearly or utilize those skills in the moment. Brainspotting allows us to get to the root of your pain and release it so that you no longer need to cope.

Why is a mind-body approach important?

When something happens that overwhelms your nervous system's ability to cope, your mind and body go into survival mode (fight, flight, freeze, or fawn). If not processed and integrated in the brain, this material may get triggered in future situations. What might this look like? Maybe it’s when your partner makes a seemingly benign statement and you lose it, or when faced with a minor confrontation you are overwhelmed internally with anxiety and/or rage. Then after your brain and body no longer detect a threat, and you are able to think clearly, you beat yourself up for reacting so strongly. But the truth is you can’t logic your way out of survival mode. This is where Brainspotting can help!
